The June art festival tour for me was a doozy. I started out from home in
Texas and hustled all the way up to Edina, MN. for a great 3 day show with a
few hundred other artists from all over.
The weather was pretty decent and sales were normal until a nice couple with
a second home in Florida asked for something unusual. They loved my wine
images but had a huge wall to cover. I suggested we blow them up to accommodate
their needs and I sent them 3 limited edition giclees 32" x 42". They looked
fabulous and will dominate their living room.
Then off to Chicago and the Well St. Art Festival known for its bars and
young people drinking and partying. At one point thousands of them walked by
all our booths NOT EVEN LOOKING AT ANY ART WHATSOVER!. Not good
compared to last year when sales were mighty fine.
I flew home for 2 weeks and then returned to do an nice indoor show in
Des Moines, IO which was OK too. New crowd, new buyers and a good time
overall.
Being away from home is challenging especially if Elaine is not with me.
Always glad when we are together. As to next year, we shall see which shows
I return to.
